Money magazine named the City of Keller as one of the top 100 “Best Places to Live” in the United States in 2007. Keller was ranked number 50, the top rated city in North Texas, and among only six cities listed from the entire state.

This ranking reflects many years of vision, cooperation, and collaboration between elected officials and the city staff who have worked tirelessly to create a community that has unique country charm and all the convenience of a big city.

Some of the items that put Keller on the top of the list included our extremely low crime rate, access to an excellent recreation, park and trail system, and diverse housing opportunities. Keller can honestly say that we have “something for everyone.”

The city’s park system is highlighted by an extensive and beautiful trail system that continues to be expanded to offer recreational opportunities for all our citizens. The city is extremely proud of the award-winning Keller Pointe, which offers affordable fitness, recreation, and aquatic facilities for all of our residents. Finally, the “Imagination Station” located at Johnson Road Park attracts families of all kinds to its huge playground with equipment for children of all ages. The playground was built using donations from corporate citizens and the hard work of volunteers from throughout the community, including the Keller Rotary Club, Lions Club, Greater Keller Women’s Club, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, and neighborhood residents who simply wanted to lend a hand.

In the area of public safety, their nationally accredited police department can boast on having one of the lowest crime rates in Tarrant County. Their fire department is continuing to expand and the city is looking forward to the opening of a new fire station in the spring of 2009. This expansion will continue to improve on the impeccable service already being provided to their residents.

This ranking confirms what those who live in the city already know – Keller is truly a great place to live!
